Fieldwork Hours Accrued During Program

The student is responsible for securing a practicum site. The Field team will guide students through this process but will not seek out and place students in practicum sites.

The Field Support Team is a centralized remote team that consists of Field Faculty Representatives (FFR) and Field Practicum Specialists (FPS). Each student is assigned an FFR, who works with them for approximately 14-16 months throughout their advancement and practicum process. The FPS team collaborates with the FFR to assist the student with the registration process for practicum.

Each student is required to complete 600 clinical hours over 12 months during their practicum process. Of the total hours required, 500 hours are direct client contact (therapy), and 100 hours are accumulated through clinical supervision. 200 hours of direct client contact must be relational, focusing on working with couples, families, or any other form of relational dynamics.

During the supervision process, students must receive a minimum of 100 hours of individual and group supervision. Of the 100 supervision hours, 51 hours must utilize observable data. Observable data is in the form of video, audio, or live supervision shared with the clinical supervisor.

Personal Psychotherapy Requirement During Program

One of the program requirements is to complete 20 hours of personal therapy. This requirement must be fulfilled while enrolled in the MA MFT program. In other words, any therapy sessions completed prior to admission in the MA MFT program may not be included in meeting this requirement. To fully complete this requirement, you will need to complete a minimum of 15 face to face therapy sessions and 5 teletherapy sessions.
